I don’t think there’s been a clearer signal for Beijing to put the pedal to the metal on stimulus than today. Industrial profits and SOEs profits both falling at an alarming rate. October is giving off better vibes in consumption and real estate but a clear turnaround is far from certain.

China is nowhere near the peak per capita energy consumption from coal that the US and Australia saw before they turned away from the dirty fossil fuel. But it doesn’t mean China should allow its coal energy use to grow unchecked.
