Insiders: Apple will avoid fines from the EU regarding browser options.
Media sources reported on Tuesday that Apple has adjusted the browser options on the iPhone to comply with the EU's Digital Markets Act, thereby avoiding potential fines and enforcement orders from the EU. The sources noted that the EU Commission initiated an investigation under the Digital Markets Act (DMA) back in March last year and is expected to conclude the investigation early next week. The EU Commission has expressed concerns that the browser page designed by Apple on the iPhone may hinder users from switching to competing browsers or Search Engines. The EU competition enforcement agency declined to comment on the matter. The sources indicated that the Commission plans to conclude its investigation early next week.
