The Financial Times of the United Kingdom cited unnamed sources as reporting that SoftBank has discussed producing artificial intelligence (AI) chips that compete with Nvidia with both Intel and United Kingdom. However, Intel found it difficult to meet SoftBank's requirements regarding production volume and speed, and the related plans could not be concluded. Negotiations broke down in the "last few months." SoftBank has also had discussions with Taiwan Semiconductor, but no agreement has been reached. SoftBank has also communicated with technology groups such as Google and Meta, hoping to gain support and financing to achieve its AI aspirations. Meta declined to comment and Google did not respond to requests for comment.

Before the stocks of American tech giants fell in July, Singaporean state investor Temasek bought tens of billions of dollars worth of these stocks in the second quarter. According to an analysis of Temasek's two most recent Form 13F filings, its holdings in 11 large technology stocks increased by $3.3 billion in the three months ending June 30. A large part of this, about $3.2 billion, was concentrated in six companies: Microsoft, Apple, Nvidia, Alphabet Inc., Meta Platforms Inc., and Amazon. However, there is still increasing demand for stocks related to artificial intelligence (AI).
