On the evening of December 11, Beijing time, Manohar Paluri, Vice President of Meta's Generative AI Engineering, stated that closed-source AI is absurd and that open-source is the only way to fully realize AI's potential. The prosperity of AI has reignited the long-standing debate in the Technology Industry regarding the advantages and disadvantages of open-source software versus closed-source software. However, for Meta, the parent company of Facebook, providing open-source large language models (LLMs) is the only way to allow AI to fully fulfill its potential. Paluri made these remarks at the Fortune AI Brainstorming Conference held in San Francisco.
