Mitsubishi UFJ Bank in Japan announced on Thursday that executives, including CEO Junichi Hamada, will face penalties for being held accountable in a scandal involving a former employee accused of stealing a large amount of customer Assets from client safes. Junichi Hamada will have a 30% salary reduction each month for three months. The core subsidiary of Mitsubishi UFJ Financial Conglomerates will also lower the salaries of other executives, including Director Naoki Hori. On December 16 last year, the Financial Services Agency of Japan requested the bank to submit an investigation report regarding this large-scale theft incident. From April 2020 to October 2024, criminal activity occurred.
