ConfusedLiger : Fed rates control everything not a president who hasn’t even been in office for 100 days. Things were moving while Fed kept lowering rates under Biden last year. Then Trump comes into office and the fed during last FOMC meeting kept interest rates the same. This is how markets respond when that happens. Other central banks have lowered rates.
With that said I’m not advocating for the federal reserve to cut rates to zero but imo 25 bp’s would’ve been an adequate cut for now . We’ll see what happens during the next Fed meeting I guess. These are opinions of course.
