Will Taiwan Semiconductor acquire Intel's wafer factories? Recent media reports indicate that Taiwan Semiconductor may establish a joint venture with Intel and operate Intel's wafer factories. Reuters pointed out on February 15 that the Trump administration may not support foreign companies operating Intel's factories in the USA. In response, JPMorgan and Morgan Stanley both issued Research Reports on February 16 stating that the probability of Taiwan Semiconductor acquiring or operating Intel's wafer factories is low. JPMorgan: Is sharing process technology with Intel? Almost impossible. JPMorgan pointed out that, on one hand, Taiwan Semiconductor would need significant concessions and agreements from multiple stakeholders, including the government and shareholders, to pursue this path.
