  a long time ago in a distant Galaxy when I was a stockbroker in the 1980s it seemed no matter what stock I was recommending that the company wrote research on it always fell. I cold called every day to develop a clientele and a woman listen to what I had to say and expressed an interest if I had a good idea to let her know.
  so back then we were required to only recommend the company stocks that they wrote research on because they're the experts and we're just a stockbroker and we know nothing
  so every time I recommended a stock she bought it and the stocks fell over the coming weeks and she lost money I felt terrible.
  so one day I called her up and I said this is the stock it's just so we're going to buy it and I'm like no we're going to do something different
  so do you know how every time I call you up to buy something the stocks fall
  I said so what we're going to do is we're actually just going to sell the stock we don't really own it we're just going to sell it and then when it falls we buy it back at a lower price and then you make a profit
  I'd explain it a couple of different ways but finally she agreed and we shorted a stock
  it was my first short sale ever
  I think that day maybe over the next couple that dropped 50 cents or so and I felt vindicated like finally I'm making this woman money
  the next day the stock halted news pending
  there was an all cash tender offering all for made 75% higher than the closing price . the company was being acquired for 75% premium.
  she never did business with me anymore
  that's why I don't short stocks
  when you short of stock the maximum upside is zero but your risk is unlimited
  so just because I give you an opinion that I think this stock is going to round trip I am not sure this stock nor have I ever shorted any other stock going back to that one day in the 1980s because that was a lifelong lesson that I learned and I wear that scar on my arm
