Mitsui Sumitomo Bank: The lower limit of the USD/JPY exchange rate next year may be 130 yen.
Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation expects the USD/JPY to fall to 138 by the end of 2025, accompanied by some violent fluctuations. 'The exchange rate may further drop to 130, which is the lower limit of our predicted range,' wrote Ryota Abe, an economist in the Asia-Pacific Global Markets and Financial Resources Department. The exchange rate may be around 1 USD to 145 JPY this year. It is 'crucial' for the US to reduce interest rates for the USD/JPY to further decline. The Bank of Japan may raise interest rates to 0.75% by the end of 2025, but it is not expected to hike rates further for the time being.
