The market finished Friday on the rise despite low holiday weekend volume. $NVIDIA (NVDA.US)$ was climbing again, at one point up 3% after a 6% drop on Thursday.
Just past 4 pm ET the $S&P 500 Index (.SPX.US)$ traded up 1.01%, the $Dow Jones Industrial Average (.DJI.US)$ climbed 0.55%, and the $Nasdaq Composite Index (.IXIC.US)$ climbed 1.13%.
The month was positive for indexes overall, even considering a 4% in the first week. The S&P 50...

Stocks are rising on Friday as the market aims to close the month of August in the green. It has been a volatile month since the sell off we saw in early Aug.

It was all about Nvidia's earnings, and how the market would react to them, and... well, it left a bit to be desired.
After initially spiking as high as $128 on blowout Q2 earnings, NVDA then dumped instantly as the market was disappointed with the company's Q3 guidance, before staging a modest rebound into the Thursday premarket, only to see the gains then fade, and slide more than 6%, and wiping out $200 billion in market cap.

Despite a sell off in Nvidia. S&P500 closed Thursday’s session flat. Nasdaq was only down slightly. Seems like we are only taking a very brief breather?
The positive takeaway from Nvidia’s decline is that their fundamentals are still very strong, perhaps even stronger than before.
Therefore such sell offs are always welcomed by long term investors who believe in their growth trajectory - because it gives them a chance to snap up some shares

There’s no cause for concern for long-term investors. I would take advantage of any further dips to build positions in strong companies like Nvidia.
JulW21 : NVIDIA price fall after earning report is just temporary. With such good earning report, the future prospect of the company is good. For long term, if the earning continues to be good, then the stock is worth investing in. Meta falls during Q1 earning result, even though the earnings are good. but look at the share price now, it is at the highest now.
