On July 20th, EqualOcean founder and partner Huang Yuanpu posted an open letter on his WeChat moments, calling out Ctrip Group Chairman Liang Jianzhang for their big data discriminatory pricing practice. Huang stated that at 11:30 AM on July 18th, he tried to book a flight on Ctrip's App from Beijing to Astana, Kazakhstan on July 22nd. At 7 AM that same day, the ticket price for the Air China flight was displayed as RMB 3868. After clicking to place the order, during the "Fill in Information" process, when clicking the "Next" button, the ticket was suddenly listed as "Sold Out", and then the price refreshed to RMB 4408. However, the same ticket was still available on Air China's official website for RMB 3868.
