Japan is preparing to provide up to 802.5 billion yen (5.4 billion USD) in additional assistance to the chip startup Rapidus Corp., reflecting the increasing determination of the Japanese government to ensure semiconductor supply. Along with the proposed additional funding of 1.0 billion yen, this brings the total public funds allocated by Japan to create an advanced chip foundry enterprise to up to 1.72 trillion yen.
