United Natural Foods Stock Discussion

This position ran away from me! Will hold shares, but looking elsewhere for ballast.

The share price has recovered nicely, and insider buying this past year was encouraging. But the business remains unprofitable and revenue growth is still slow. I’d hoped the turnaround would be noticeable in the fundamentals with this recent uptick. And I’d hoped to hold the shares as ballast to tech, but feel there are better opportunities in the market (more Nvidia!) I’m pleased with this stroke of luck, but as I don’t see evidence that it’s sustainable, I am moving on.

I scaled into this position earlier this year when I thought the shares undervalued as I wanted to diversify away from tech and provide some boring ballast. I will revaluate the company’s valuation and position this week, and will most likely continue to hold longterm.

I started this position as I felt shares were undervalued and sought ballast to my tech heavy portfolio. I need to reevaluate as my target price has been met.

United Natural Foods' declining ROCE trend is worrying, possibly due to new competition or smaller margins. Despite the stock rising 11% in the last five years, if these trends persist, better investment opportunities may exist elsewhere.
