Could somebody explain why VFV and VOO have different outcomes when they both track the S&P500?

So I got into a back and forth with someone this afternoon about performance of Canadian equities market being abysmal under Trudeau.
We also hear this a lot in general putting politics aside that Canadian equities are underperforming.
So here are some stats using ETFs that Vanguard has put together since JT took office and over the last 5 years.

What do you think about selling number of shares from an etf like $VANGUARD S&P 500 INDEX ETF TR UNIT (VFV.CA)$ or $ISHARES CORE EQUITY ETF PORTFOLIO UNITS CAD (XEQT.CA)$ that equals the yearly profit then investing this money in a GIC? All within your TFSA or RRSP? Is this a bad strategy? If so? Why? Could this affect contribution room for TFSA/RRSP?

I just know that immediately after i buy, the price is going to tank 😀

Pei Ming 25 : If I am not mistaken, VOO is traded using USD while VFV is traded using CAD, so the performance of VFV is affected by the exchange rate between USD and CAD. If CAD depreciate against USD, you may see VFV outperform VOO and S&P 500 index.
