According to mastercard SpendingPulse data, the day after Thanksgiving (start of the traditional holiday shopping season), retail sales (excluding autos) increased by 3.4%. This number exceeded last year's growth and was not adjusted for inflation. In-store sales increased by 0.7%, below last year's pace. E-commerce is a bright spot.
