For just the second month of 2024, and the first month since April, after surviving the often more dangerousmonth of September, the S&P 500 posted a negative October. The Nasdaq Composite closed out the month in the red as well, although that index had already posted a negative April as well as a negative July in 2024. Brace for big tech earnings

Investors will be bracing for earnings from the Big Tech / Magnificent 7. Google will be the first to go this week (after market closes today).
Meta and Microsoft will be next on Wed, with Apple reporting on Thurs.
These earnings can be “market moving”. Watch Nasdaq / QQQ closely. The movement could be huge. Implied volatility will likely be high.

Extremely busy week

We are going to have a very busy week ahead with a few key economic reports and companies’ earnings lining up.
5 out of the Mag 7 are reporting this week - Meta, Amazon, Apple, Google and Microsoft.
On the economic calendar front, 2 huge data this week - Fed’s preferred inflation gauge - the PCE price index (Thurs)
Finally, on Friday, the October jobs report will come out.

Some of the Financials large-cap stocks will be releasing their Quarterly Earnings Report (ER) this week.
