Nvidia has informed one of its biggest clients, Microsoft, and another large cloud provider that the most advanced artificial intelligence chip in its new Blackwell series chips will be delayed.
According to two people familiar with producing chips and server hardware for Nvidia, due to design defects, Nvidia (NVDA.US)'s upcoming artificial intelligence chip will be delayed by three months or more, which may affect customers like Meta, Google and Microsoft who together have ordered chips worth billions of dollars.
According to a Microsoft employee and another person familiar with the matter, Nvidia informed one of its biggest clients, Microsoft, and another large cloud provider that the most advanced artificial intelligence chip in its new Blackwell series chips will be delayed.
These delays mean that a large amount of goods will not be shipped until the first quarter of 2025.
According to reports, an Nvidia spokesperson declined to comment on the delay of the company's statement to customers, but told the media that "output will gradually increase later this year".
