About Margin Calls
Disclosures
If you sell short a stock and a dividend is paid for that stock, and you still hold a short position in that stock on the trading day before the ex-dividend date, then you will be responsible for paying the dividend to the stock lender, and Moomoo Financial Inc. will deduct it from your account on the dividend payment date. If you do not want to pay that dividend, you can close your position prior to the trading day before the ex-dividend date.
Margin trading entails greater risk, including, but not limited to, risk of loss and incurrence of margin interest debt, and is not suitable for all investors. Please assess your financial circumstances and risk tolerance before trading on margin.
When short selling there is no limit on how high a stock price could rise so the potential loss is unlimited. Other risks include dividend risk and margin risk, this strategy is not appropriate for all investors.
