● Different transfer methods may apply depending on the country or region of the other broker you are transferring from. For details, see Transfer methods available.
To submit a transfer-in request in the moomoo app:
Go to Accounts > Tap an Account > More > Stock Transfer
Select a transfer method
If you have multiple accounts with Moomoo Canada, please select the account you'd like to transfer assets to.
Note: If you are trying to transfer assets into a registered account with Moomoo Canada, i.e., an RRSP or TFSA account, the account you are transferring assets from must be of the same type.
Certain types of assets may not be eligible for transfer. For details, see Assets eligible for transfer.
Does the account you are transferring from contain the following assets: fractional shares, cryptocurrencies, options contracts expiring within 14 days, mutual funds, bonds, futures, or annuities.
If yes, you will not be able to make a full transfer. However, you can initiate a partial transfer.
If no, you are eligible to initiate a full transfer.
Select the brokerage you are transferring assets from
If the brokerage is not shown in the list, please tap View All and search for the brokerage name.
Enter your brokerage account number
Please ensure that your account number with the other brokerage is entered correctly.
If there are any errors or missing information, you can return to previous steps to make corrections.
As the last step before submission:
Please sign your full name
Enter your trading password to verify your identity
After verification, your transfer-in request will be submitted.
To submit a transfer-in request via the moomoo app:
Go to Accounts > Transfers > Transfer Stock In, or click here
To submit a transfer-in request via the Client Portal:
Click More > Transfer & Pay > Transfer Positions > Incoming
Select the other broker's country or region in the related field.
Different transfer methods and fees may apply depending on the country or region of the other broker you are transferring from.
Here are the account number formats used by common brokers:
RBC Direct Investing (Broker: RBC Dominion Securities): 10 numerical digits. Please note that your statements usually show an 8-digit account number; however, there should be 2 check digits following the account number.
BMO InvestorLine (Broker: BMO Nesbitt Burns INC): 10 numerical digits. Please note that your statements usually show an 8-digit account number; however, there should be 2 check digits following the account number.
CIBC Investor’s Edge (Broker: CIBC World Markets): 10 numerical digits. Please note that your statements usually show an 8-digit account number; however, there should be 2 check digits following the account number.
Scotia iTrade (Broker: Scotia Capital Markets): 10 numerical digits. Please note that your statements usually show an 8-digit account number; however, there should be 2 check digits following the account number.
Questrade Inc: 10 numerical digits. Please note that your statements usually show an 8-digit account number; however, there should be 2 check digits following the account number.
Wealthsimple (Broker: Canadian Shareowner INV INC): 12 alphanumeric characters in a format of AA0000A0CAD.
For Individual Margin Account and Individual Cash Account, Moomoo CA currently supports the following transfer methods:
● ATON (Automated Transfer Online Notification)
● ACATS (Automated Customer Account Transfer Service)
For Registered Accounts (RRSP/SRRSP/TFSA):
● Registered accounts inbound transfers (from another financial institution) via ATON (Automated Transfer Online Notification) is supported. The account type of the delivering account and the target account should be the same.
● Registered accounts inbound transfers (from another financial institution) via Free of Payment (FOP) is not supported.
● Transfers from a cash or margin account or elsewhere to a registered account are not supported.
ATON (Automated Transfer Online Notification)
ATON is a way to transfer money electronically between different Canadian brokerage accounts.
Applicable Brokers: Canadian brokers
Step-by-Step Instructions:
1. Start an ATON Full transfer in the moomoo app
2. Submit a stock transfer request via the Client Portal
3. Moomoo Canada will send an ATON request to the Canadian brokerage you are transferring from
Fees: Free
Processing Time: Typically takes 5-10 business days.
FOP is a method of transferring securities from a broker located outside of the US. This transfer method only involves the transfer of securities ownership and does not involve the transfer of funds.
Applicable Brokers: Any broker outside the US
Step-by-Step Instructions:
1. Log in to the Client Portal
2. Enter the receipt instruction
3. Provide your account information from the account with the other broker
4. Print, sign, and send the Letter of Authorization to your broker or follow the guidelines they require. Find the letter on the transfer confirmation page, a Customer Account Transfer.
Fees: Free
Processing Time: The duration of the transfer process can vary from several business days to several weeks, depending on the complexity of the transfer and the procedures followed by the other broker.
ACATS (Automated Customer Account Transfer Service)
ACATS is a fast and reliable way to transfer assets between different brokers.
Applicable Brokers: US brokers
Step-by-Step Instructions:
1. Submit a stock transfer request via the Client Portal
2. The Client Portal will send an ACATS request to the US broker or bank you are transferring from
Fees: Free
Processing Time: Usually takes 4-8 business days to transfer US securities and USD cash.
