<Netherlands and Japan are exempt>
In response to the 'Foreign Direct Product' rule, restricting products that companies can export to China, there is a possibility of affecting some US allied countries. The new regulations will expand US authority to restrict the export of semiconductor manufacturing equipment produced by manufacturers in the USA, Japan, and the Netherlands worldwide.
Equipment produced in Malaysia, Singapore, Israel, Taiwan, and South Korea are subject to the same regulations, but the Netherlands and Japan are exempt.
The expanded Foreign Direct Product rule will apply to sixteen companies on the Entity List considered to be the most critical for China's advanced semiconductor manufacturing plans.
