There is a possibility that discussions over interest rate cuts will become more active at the next Federal Open Market Committee (FOMC) in response to economic indicators showing that the US labor market continues to soften, and there is a possibility that discussions over interest rate cuts will become more active among US Federal Reserve (FRB) officials.
According to the June employment statistics released by the U.S. Department of Labor, the unemployment rate rose to 4.1% from the previous month. The number of people employed in the non-farm sector has been drastically revised downward, and the average for the last 3 months has decreased to 177,000 people. It falls below the 200,000 monthly increase required to respond to immigration and other population increases, as recently calculated by FRB Director Cook.
