Micron Q3 earnings: Time to buy the dip?

$Micron Technology(MU.US)$ I want to throw this out there because it sucks having a company that's in the red post earnings when ordinarily the stock would be trading higher. what I read today and it's pretty much a reoccurring theme is the capex for micron is higher than previously announced for the next quarter and subsequent couple of quarters probably the balance of this year. if you take a step back and roll the clock back about 2 months and look at meta and look at their earnings they beat on revenue they beat on earnings per share their guidance was not what was expected because of the significant amount of capital expenditure that is going to be made and money goes to Nvidia the bulk of it anyways 4 and 200s and then ultimately Blackwell. they hammered the shit out of the stock and look where it is now. and I believe that's what you're going to see with micron so we're getting a one-two punch the first punch is what's listed here the second punch is the rebalancing micron is done exceptionally well and it has exceeded the maximum percentage that is allowed in many hedge funds in many mutual funds in many pension plans tomorrow is the last day of the quarter and what hasn't been sold to reduce the percentage relative to everything else in the portfolio it will be completed at that point. so if micron let's suppose started at 4% of the portfolio and grew to 9% and Nvidia started at 5% and grew to 18%. that's a lot of the selling that's taking place is to rebalance and pull it back to the maximum level. and I believe we'll see the general accumulation starting sometime next week well or maybe the markets down and you'll start to see these stocks trading higher again and that's the nibbling taking place by institutions to build positions again.

  • Money Thrill : Indeed, the selling that's taking place is to rebalance the portfolio... I see that also in my Portfolio asset management . Even when the share can go  much higher, they sell undefinedundefined

  • Scoreville : Thanks for the insight, I jumped on MU yesterday when I saw the drop.  Like you said, same deal happened to meta and sales force, and I jump on those too back then, now look at both of them.  I’m not in a position to punish companies for a slight miss in one aspect, so I gladly pick up the ass kicking scraps left over from the big guns that can afford to teach these companies their lessons.

  • 10baggerbammOP Scoreville: patience is a virtue my problem always has been I tend to take very large positions in companies that I believe in the CEOs I believe in their future and it keeps me awake at night and that's not a good thing so invest what you're comfortable with don't exceed your ability to enjoy your life don't exceed your ability to have a good night's rest because it's not a comfortable feeling and that's basically My Life by choice because I'm not a risk-averse person because I buy companies where I believe in the CEOs I believe in who they are and that's why one reason I don't buy Intel because once they become so politically affiliated it's a dog shit company

  • Money Thrill 10baggerbammOP: Big truth, I was a freelance investment advisor for insurance company, now retired. I live 200 km from Eindhoven $ASML Holding (ASML.US)$ .  I'm following it closely .... Orders have now doubled and the land area will also double and no fewer than 20000 employees will be added. Also a GENIUS CEO. Sales had dropped precisely because China had ordered many machines before the US refused to sell to China. It is very logical that income declined afterwards. Even a fool knows that, but apparently the asset managers do not. undefinedundefinedundefinedundefinedundefined  (Nota, my mother language is Dutch/French... sometimes I do not understand special words? But I learn from You, Thanks)
