Taiwan's leading LCD panel company, AUO, is reported by Taiwanese broadcasting to sell three fabs of its Color Filter (CF) factory in Tainan Science Park and a factory in the Houli Park of the Central Taiwan Science Park belonging to its subsidiary, AUO Crystal, to the Taiwanese subsidiary of the memory giant Micron Technology for a total of 8.1 billion NT dollars (about 37 billion yen). These factories are expected to be handed over from AUO to Micron by the end of 2024.
Among the CF factory in Tainan City that AUO plans to sell, the 5th generation fab "C5D" and the 6th generation fab "C6C" were closed in August 2023, but the 4th generation fab "C4A" continues production, and after the sale to Micron, AUO will lease back the C4A fab.
The AUO Tainan factory to be sold has a land area of 0.08 million 7300 m2 and a building area of 0.14 million 6000 m2, while the Taichung factory is 0.03 million 2500 m2. The purchase and sale agreement (PSA) has already been concluded between the two companies.
