The book of Haggai is the 37th book of the Hebrew Bible and the tenth book of the Twelve Little Prophets in the Old Testament. The author of this book is Haggai. Darius reiterated Cyrus's edict and ordered the Jews to ignore enemy objections and continue the construction of the temple.

Haggai's prophecy is part of the Hebrew Bible canon, and the Jews have no doubt about it. Further evidence is found in Ezra 5:1, which talks about Hadid making prophecies “in the name of the God of Israel.” There is a similar record in Ezra 6:14. Paul's words prove that Haggai's prophecy was indeed part of the 'Bible as sensed by God'.
