At 3 p.m., the dollar was trading at the 146 yen level, with mixed buying and selling, and a quiet market due to the U.S. holiday.

September 2, 2024, 3:25 PM GMT+9 (excerpt)
At 3:00 p.m., the dollar/yen was trading in the mid-146 yen range, unchanged from the end of last week's New York market. Today, the U.S. market is closed, and there was a strong sense of wait-and-see.
The dollar at the beginning of the week rose temporarily to 146.60 yen after 8 a.m., reaching a high not seen in a week and a half since August 21. Following the dollar's rise in overseas markets at the end of last week, buying led the way, but after trading intensified, it briefly fell to the mid-145 yen level, resulting in a lack of direction.
There were also comments from overseas bank analysts that the previous weekend's rise in the dollar may have been due to the end-of-month trading, and that the buying has stalled after a round of growth.
