Xpeng Aeroht says it has over 1,000 pre-orders for its modular flying car even before pre-sales begin

Xpeng Aeroht, the flying car subsidiary of Xpeng, said it has received more than 1,000 pre-orders for its modular flying car, even though pre-sales have yet to officially begin.
The company announced the figure in an announcement today, attributing those orders to pioneer customers.
The product has now accumulated more than 3,000 intended orders, according to the company.
Xpeng Aeroht held a closed-door communication session with some of its key partners on Sep 4 and held an advance booking signing ceremony about the product on the same day, the company said.
The day before the communication session, Xpeng Aeroht gave its modular flying car, dubbed a land carrier, its real-life debut at an event.
The company aims to begin mass production and delivery of its modular flying car in 2026, and the price will be no more than RMB 2 million yuan (USD280,000), Xpeng Aeroht said on Sep 3.
The company plans to complete the modular flying car's first public manned flight at the Zhuhai Airshow this Nov, and will showcase it at the Guangzhou auto show in Nov.
Xpeng Aeroht will begin pre-sales of the product in late 2024, with mass production and deliveries in 2026, its founder and president, Zhao Deli, said.
The newly announced production timeline was delayed from the previous one. On Jan 10, Xpeng Aeroht said it would open pre-orders for its modular flying car in China in the fourth quarter of this year, with mass production and delivery in the fourth quarter of 2025.
Founded in 2013, Xpeng Aeroht is a technology unit majority-owned by Guangzhou-based Xpeng and its chairman and CEO He Xiaopeng.
Xpeng said at its tech day event on Oct 24, 2023 that Aeroht's flying car development path will include the eVTOL (Electric Vertical Takeoff and Landing) flying car and the modular flying car.
The modular flying car in its entirety consists of a flying car, as well as a mother vehicle that can recharge that flying car.
In Mar, Xpeng Aeroht said it had filed a type certificate application with the Chinese authorities for the flying car's flying body, product code name X3-F.
Xpeng Aeroht plans to begin construction of its Guangzhou factory in late Sep to early Oct, and expects the plant to be completed by Jul 31, 2025, with the first prototype rolling off the line at that time.
