Xpeng to start taking pre-orders for Mona M03 on Aug 8

Xpeng will start taking pre-orders for the M03, the first model in the Mona lineup on Aug 8, with the official launch expected later this month.
Xpeng's Mona M03 will be available for pre-order at 10:00 am Beijing time on Aug 8, the Chinese electric vehicle (EV) maker's chairman and CEO He Xiaopeng said on Weibo.
Xpeng debuted the Mona M03 all-electric sedan on Jul 3, saying at the time that the official launch would be in Aug.
Since the Xpeng Mona M03's official debut, many people are hoping to reserve the model soon, Mr. He said on Weibo.
The production cars of Xpeng Mona M03 will roll off the line later this month, Mr. He said, without revealing a specific launch date for the model.
Mona stems from Xpeng's acquisition of ride-hailing giant Didi Global's EV business in Aug 2023, and it said at the time that it planned to launch a new brand in 2024 under the codename Mona.
However, in public communications over the past few months, Xpeng has referred to Mona as a new product lineup, rather than a new brand.
Xpeng said on Jul 3 that the Mona M03 would be priced under RMB 200,000 yuan (USD27,850) and will have the strongest intelligent driving capabilities in its class.
The model has previously been included in China's Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) model catalog, showing it with length, width and heights of 4,780 mm, 1,896 mm and 1,445 mm, respectively, and a wheelbase of 2,815 mm.
Both variants in the regulatory catalog are single-motor models, both powered by lithium iron phosphate batteries, and supplier is BYD's battery division FinDreams Battery.
Xpeng has previewed the Mona M03 several times over the past month, unveiling exterior and interior details.

  • SoundOfMusic : Got any pre-order numbers?

  • bullrider_21 OP SoundOfMusic : Don't have.

  • SoundOfMusic bullrider_21 OP : I can't find any either.
It's amazing to me how good a value Mona M03 is. All the driving techs like or better than Tesla FSD, which Tesla charges $8,000 for, Xpeng is selling M03 for $27,000. So the car itself is selling for $19,000 ex-software!
Who wouldn't want one if they know and appreciate the driving techs.
I  suspect the China consumers don't understand or appreciate driving techs. This is why He Xiaopeng loves Tesla bringing their FSD to China to open the eyes of consumer.
Unfortunately,  Tesla has moved the China FSD date from 8/8 to 10/10. They want to have a few more tweaks, probably after He Xiaopeng gave Tesla feedback after his test drive in the US.
Why would He Xiaopeng help and welcome Tesla FSD? To help promote driving techs in China and borrow some spotlight from Elon.

  • bullrider_21 OP SoundOfMusic : Maybe it is very competitive in China. You can't charge high or they will go to your competitor.

He knows Xpeng has better tech than Tesla FSD. So he said: "bring it on!"

  • SoundOfMusic bullrider_21 OP : Anywhere else outside of China would love to pay $27K for an EV with tech. It is lower than an ICE car.

I think I have read that M03 will be for export. Have you heard?

  • bullrider_21 OP SoundOfMusic : Yes, I've heard it may be exported to Europe at the end of the year or early next year.
