$AAPL.US$ A lot of people in this discussion board talking about regretting selling stocks. One maneuver I frequently make when I feel a stock is doing really well, but perhaps either becoming too large of a percentage for my portofolio -or- I feel the stock might be way over valued, I’ll just sell a portion of the stock I own (maybe 25%, 50%, 75%, etc.). Then, if the stock really takes off (again), I’ll still get a great return and I’ll avoid the fear of missing out. Alternatively, if it dumps, I won’t be losing nearly as much.
Not an uncommon strategy, but just wanted to remind some folks! I did this today with AAPL. I think I maybe sold like 10% of my shares.

Buying stocks is part of buying a business; the market is always swinging between over-excitement and over-pessimism. Smart investors buy from over-pessimistic people and sell to over-excited people; your own performance is far better than securities The performance itself can affect investment income more.

$O.US$ and $VEREIT Inc.US$ expect to close its merger on November 1 of this year, the company says.
Shares of O are up slightly by 0.20% in after-hours trading.
In addition, the registration statement associated with the previously announced plan to spin off "substantially" all the office assets from Realty Income and VEREIT, filed under the newly created Orion Office REIT, is effective as of Oct. 22.
Realty Income declares Nov. 2 as the record date for the spin off, and Nov. 12 as the distribution date.
The spinoff will be accomplished via a pro rata dividend of one share of Orion common stock for every ten shares of Realty Income common stock outstanding as of the record date for the spinoff.
Realty Income shareholders will receive cash in lieu of fractional shares in the spinoff.
Previously, (April 29) Realty Income to acquire VEREIT, then spin off office properties in new REIT.
Realty Income, VEREIT will close merger on Nov. 1

$INTC.US$ Heading into these quarterly results, Intel was already facing tons of lost market share to $AMD.US$ and $NVDA.US$. These chip companies have been growing revenues at 40%+ annual clips while Intel can't even grow anymore.
The end result with AMD and Nvidia now reaching revenue rates of $35 billion is substantial market share lost by the chip giant. The forecasts are for more lost market share ahead with Intel reporting declining revenues in the next year and AMD and Nvidia ringing in near double-digit revenue gains for years ahead.
Intel didn't repurchase any shares in the quarter as the company plans to ramp up capital spending to build new fabs. The weakened results are more precarious with the $35.6 billion debt load and net debt of $23.7 billion.
The chip giant still forecasts generating $12.5 billion in free cash flow this year, but more spending combined with weaker margins will squeeze these cash flows. Intel forecasts spending up to $19 billion in capex this year and the new capital spending will cut further into cash flows.
Just a few months ago, CEO Pat Gelsinger unveiled a new fab campus would cost anywhere from $60 billion to $120 billion over the next decade. The new fabs are part of the IDM 2.0 strategy which would provide Intel with multiple modules capable of processing wafers for clients such as $QCOM.US$ and $IBM.US$. The biggest question is how much the spending will boost the current annual capital spending levels because Intel could quickly watch the current FCFs disappear. The higher costs might not come with meaningful revenue growth as these major chip competitors may ultimately bulk at using Intel as a manufacturer.
The stock ran to $56 on more hype as $TSM.US$ had blowout numbers on strong fab demand. Intel is now poised to test the yearly lows below $50. The chip giant will be lucky to earn $4 per share going forward with the higher spending and major pressure on gross margins. The stock traded at nearly 14x 2022 EPS estimates heading into this quarterly report despite no growth and the higher risk from additional spending.

$INTC.US$ What I never hear from Pat "the Mouth" Pat Gelsinger is what is his plan to attract the best and brightest to work for Intel. Because of it's corporate culture it no longer is a place that attracts the best talent. So Pat can say all he wants about committing to billions to build new fabs but without the talent they will continue to fall further behind $TSM.US$ , $AMD.US$ , and $NVDA.US$ . Basically, their problem is not money but intellectual talent. That said, I did buy back INTC at $51.10 in after hours trading today. At this price, it likely has 20% upside over the next 12 months plus the dividend. Keep an eye out for AMD's earning after the bell Tuesday. This might knock it down another $2 and if there's a couple of down days in the market I will look to add more at $48 (as predicted about 6 months ago.)
