I’m new to investing. For the last few months, I’ve been DCA’ing into an ETF bi-weekly which I plan to do for the next 20-30 years.
Today I purchased $500 of $Alphabet-A(GOOGL.US)$ and $500 of $Microsoft(MSFT.US)$ , which I don’t plan to add to but instead just hold for the next 20-30 years as well. My question is whether this was pointless and if I would have been better off just putting the $1000 into the ETF?

A series of supply chain problems caused by the war in Russia and a surge in US Federal Reserve interest rates caused by the expansion of US stocks in late August.
The S&P 500 index was down 16% from its high of 4325 on August 16, falling madly along the way to 3640 at the time of publication on September 29.

Panic index VIX jumped from 19.5 to 31.8 for the same period. The higher the VIX indicates that the more panicked the market is, investors are more uncertain about the economic situation and the more risky the stock market is moving away.

Then, during this turbulent period, the price of the embattled apple stock fell sharply.
01 What happened to the apple?
Apples have always been a stock that Uncle's attention has been on. In the face of a bad stock market, AAPL is bearish in FAANG, with the DAP down 4.6% and AAPL down 2.3% in the three months from the end of June to September 29. The recent trend and the chart have been consistent.
But in the last five trading days, AAPL fell 6.7 percent, while falling 3 percent above the board.
There are two reasons for this:
Bloomberg reported on Wednesday (September 28th) that Apple failed to see the expected high consumer demand for its new iPhone 14, telling some suppliers to abandon their plans to increase production. The share price fell 1.3% to 149.8.
