Well, just now I tried to short on moo moo but it said there’s no more shares available for shorting. Now on IBKR there’s only 1000+ shares available for shorting… If everyone is shorting but prices are not plummeting that much, then wouldn’t a short squeeze be awaiting?

If I had bought in since last Friday, with the confirmation of (short-term?) upward trend, it would have been a small profit by now

Haha, or it could be too late to dream about riding the bull.. This could be a bull trap, waiting for buy in before a plunge again!
$NIO Inc (NIO.US)$it looks similar to ytd’s pattern.. once it stabilise for a while at 5.63, it might dip again…

I’m none the wiser though, but I’ve shorted some at 5.64. If it rises up to 5.7+ range then I’m going to short more.. I do not foresee a real upturn in the immediate future so I’m going to go with being a shortie

Can hold for days, or even months, but there will be charges for holding overnight. You need to make sure you have sufficient margin though, in case you get margin called when the prices spike up.

Haha no la, where got so easy? Returns aren’t that consistent and you wouldn’t always short… I did earn about 20k earlier in Sep but it was from shorting DBS stock when it was at 39.66. I felt that although it is a growth stock, the prices were too high and there was bound to be a retracement. If you ask me what’s the strategy, I would say, understand the fundamentals of the stock, is it a growth stock or is it making losses, to determine what is your stance-to short or to buy. For Nio, it is making 5B losses each year, with high operating cost. Fundamentally, it is weak, and it is not easy to survive. That’s why if I take a position, I will take a short. But don’t just short it when the trend is rising. You can start shorting when there’s a sign of trend reversal. For example when there was a major spike above 7 and then the next day there’s a major red flag. That’s a sign of trend reversal.
