Galaxy Securities analysts pointed out that due to the Singapore subsidiary - Power Seraya's profit contribution in the third quarter of the 2024 fiscal year (ending in March) falling by 18% each quarter, coupled with losses in the telecommunications business expanding, Yang Zhongli Electric's net profit for the third quarter also began to decline from its peak, dropping by 16% each quarter.
"Power Seraya's net profit performance began to normalize in the third quarter, while the telecommunications business faced the impact of project revenue decline, leading to an expanded loss. This was enough to offset the narrower losses from Wessex Water Affairs, as well as the increased contribution to profits from the joint venture company."
The analyst also stated that Power Seraya's electricity retail profit margin decreased quarterly, as supply contracts were renewed, offsetting the higher electricity sales volume brought by the hot weather in the third quarter.
Regarding the outlook, the analyst has not changed the future profit expectations for Yang Zhongli's Power Seraya, still predicting that the profit will continue to decline to normal levels. However, the recovery of Wessex Water Affairs' performance, combined with the contribution from the datacenter business starting in the second half of the 2025 fiscal year, is expected to mitigate the impact of declining profits from Singapore's power generation.
