My sense is that it's hard to be a full-time trader. But day trading is no guarantee that you'll make money over time. For a lot of retail investors like us, day trading often means making more trades, and without a sizeable war chest, you end up spending a lot more on transaction fees. And that's not even considering if your trades are profitable, which they might not be for inexperienced traders. Having a long-term perspective when investing is still best, but it isn't easy ...

In 2022, I hope to keep investing, and diversify my holdings. It's currently too heavily weighted in tech and comms services, and I hope to add some quality energy and staples stocks before the end of the year! Here's to a great year ahead!
My biggest mistake is being too impatient and not waiting for the price of a stock I want to drop to my desired entry point. I always tell myself I'll wait the next time, but
I have a few losing positions that I'm still holding onto, mainly because I hold a long-term perspective when investing and I still believe in the prospects of these companies in the years to come. Two of them are $NIO Inc (NIO.US)$ and $Skillz (SKLZ.US)$. Both are down for different reasons, but I hope I won't need to wait too long before these turn from red to green

Personally, I do not believe in setting stop losses, because when I invest in a company, I'm buying it for the long haul most of the time. This means that I do not intend to sell the stock unless my original thesis for buying it in the first place changes. When investing for the long term, it's more important to do research and select the right companies, rather than relying on stop losses.
When deciding when to buy, I tend to look for companies with sound fundamentals (strong competitive moat, pricing power, solid balance sheet) that investors have overreacted to after 1 bad quarter. These companies tend to revert to the mean on the long term, as long as I give it sufficient time.
As for selling, I tend to sell if my investi6thesis about a company has changed over time, such as decreasing ability to become profitable, inability to innovate with the times, overuse of debt to finance growth.
