Commencement of Continuous Use of Bio-LNG Fuel in Car Carriers – Advancing Towards the “K” LINE Environmental Vision of “Net Zero GHG Emissions by 2050”
On April 1, 2026, Kawasaki Kisen Kaisha, Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as "the Company") concluded a long-term procurement contract for bio-LNG (liquefied biomethane) fuel, one of the carbon-neutral fuels, and has begun continuous use in LNG-fueled car carriers. This procurement contract is expected to reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions by approximately 60,800 tons annually (Note 1). Bio-LNG is an alternative to LNG produced from organic waste materials such as livestock manure and food residues.
