The formula for Today's P&L percentage is as follows:
Today's P&L % = Today's P&L / (Starting Net Assets + Floating Net Flow Peak)
Starting net assets are the total value of cash and positions in your account as of 12:00 AM EST.
Floating Net Flow Peak is the value of cash changes during the calculation period (inflows or outflows of cash). If there are net negative cash outflows for the day, this number is set to 0. Cash changes can occur due to withdrawals, funds transfers, currency exchanges, positions transfers, subscription to or redemption of funds, card or coupon deposits, IPO, and ESOP funds transfers. The calculation period for this is 12:00 AM–12:00 AM EST (Trade Day + 1).
Example 1: If Today's P&L is $10,000, Starting Net Assets is $100,000, and $50,000 is withdrawn, what is today's P&L percentage?
Floating Net Flow Peak would be 0 (anything less than 0 is set to 0 for the purposes of calculation.
Today's P&L % = 10,000/ (100,000+0) = .10 = 10.00%
Example 2: If Today's P&L is $25,000, Starting Net Assets is $100,000, and $25,000 is deposited, what is today's P&L percentage?
Floating Net Flow Peak would be $25,000.
Today's P&L % = 25,000 / (100,000+25,000) = 0.20 = 20.00%
