What are the requirements to open an account?

To open a new brokerage account with Moomoo Canada choose an account type below to view its requirements.

1.  Individual Margin Account

2.  Tax-Free Savings Account (TFSA)

3.  Registered Retirement Savings Plan (RRSP)

4. Individual Cash Account

 

1. Individual Margin Account

To open an individual margin account, you need:

● A Canadian Social Insurance Number (SIN)

● A valid residential address* in Canada

● A valid mobile phone number

● A valid personal email address

● To be 21 years old or older

 

2. Tax-Free Savings Account (TFSA)

To open a Tax-Free Savings Account, you need:

● A Canadian Social Insurance Number (SIN)

● A valid residential address* in Canada

● A valid mobile phone number

● A valid personal email address

● To meet the minimum age requirement
  • 19 years old in BC, NB, NS, and NL
  • 18 years old in AB, SASK, MAN, ON, QC, and PEI

 

3. Registered Retirement Savings Plan (RRSP)

To open a Registered Retirement Savings Plan account, you need:

● A Canadian Social Insurance Number (SIN)

● A valid residential address* in Canada

● A valid mobile phone number

● A valid personal email address

● C$7,000 or more in net assets

● To meet the minimum age requirement
  • 19 years old in BC, NB, NS, and NL
  • 18 years old in AB, SASK, MAN, ON, QC, and PEI

● To be younger than 71 years old

 

4. Individual Cash Account

To open an individual cash account, you need:

● A Canadian Social Insurance Number (SIN)

● A valid residential address* in Canada

● A valid mobile phone number

● A valid personal email address

● To meet the minimum age requirement
  • 19 years old in BC, NB, NS, and NL
  • 18 years old in AB, SASK, MAN, ON, QC, and PEI

 

* Note: A PO Box mailing address is not considered a valid residential address. If the residential address provided does not match the residential address registered with a government institution, additional proof of address may be requested.
