As a concerned scientist proficient with computers, the first thing you note is that there are two primary personas of people in tech:  those who do gossip, and those who do science.
ENTER:  Concerned scientists.
BACKGROUND NOTE:  The author you are reading was designated as a "Future Scientist" over 31 years ago by some distinguished officials with some fancy letters after their names; you can examine their signatures here.
A localized microclimate ecology
The certificate itself is becoming spotted and aged; it has traveled many miles over roads, bridges, causeways, railroad tracks -- but interestingly enough, this certificate has never flown in an airplane. I never got it framed or did anything with it but keep it in a pile of certificates I earned as a young student. Florida was really quite different when I grew up there, to what it is now. One of our middle school field trips was to camp overnight on Pelican Island, and people with science degrees explained ecology-related things.  I was particularly good at botany, physics and Earth Science, and I think I earned this certificate at ¨regional¨ competition after placing first at the Stuart Middle School science fair. One of my projects was about the microbiotic plankton living in the Indian River -- a place I fished with my parents when this certificate was signed.
The Indian River homed waters fresh and brackish -- both fresh and saltwater-dependent species could survive.
I hypothesized 30+ years ago, people homed in Florida were very concerned with what the future was going to look like 20, 30, or 50 years down the line.  We had a Democratic governor the last years I schooled there.
But did you know that Florida has not had a Democratic governor for over 25 years?

These subsequent "Governors" for the last 25.x years are the ones concerned with gossip over science. The most important thing in their world is who "likes" them.  Destroy the Internet of Science to make the Internet of Gossip, eh?  And now you want more profit on more gossip.
(Spoiler alert: "Gossip is not profitable") Where bandwidth "broadcasted" to auction-based audiences concerned only with "getting more" gossip amid wasted energy?  That must be the collapsed petrodollar of you-know-who's sunk ship. Collapsed implies imploded, sunk energy cost.  With the following state-wide "State of Emergency" you declared prior to Hurricane Helene, Mr. Governor in 2024?  What do you expect the data scientists to document? Election years, especially, see an excess of wasteful spending on so-called channel marketing.  You want volunteers to do more work so insurance claim buyers -- who vote the same way they have for 25 years can collect more profit, and all the while you are drowning your state in dirty water.
Aside from no Democratic governor for 25 years, did also you know that Florida had had only Democratic governors more than 100 years, since 1876?
The trees I fished alongside long ago are sicker than they have ever been, because 25 years (five times five too many) Republican governors suppressed science and fact for imaginary points in a popularity contest. ** makes sick trees.  100 years of Democratic governors' community-based work all erased in 4X time ... because 25  years is too long to stop listening to natives and scientists.  You know who you are because you vote against oligarch-penalizing taxes.
Small things you can do to embrace, don't try to change what the Earth is trying to teach you.
ENTER:  MORE PEOPLE WHO DO SCIENCE
¨The future is here¨ and all we have is data over timespan t.   What is the data saying?
Hypothesis (singular -- or the hypothesis of one scientist)
Hypotheses (plural -- the hypotheses of many scientists, or "many hypotheses have indicated")
Documentation science begins with a documented Hypothesis.   What is the specific observation you would like to document changing over timespan t.

Proposed amendment
Index rule 0  "Boats that suck diesel and belch soot cannot be used against: a Wabanaki canoe family ANYWHERE East coast or West coast of North American tectonic plates".
Parallel process index rule 0 "Machines that suck diesel and belch soot CANNOT BE USED AGAINST: <ntv_lang> Chugach whaler family ANYWHERE West coast or East coast of Northern America's tectonic plates".
Reasoning:  A person or persons who can contextualize themselves within the fabric of Earth Science and geology -- time suddenly has to shift a lot bigger when you realize weather patterns on an object over 4.6 billion years old would have a lot of variation.  Companies must contextualize themselves as being bad at predictive science -- liabilities increasing at rates "greater than" expected, does mean stocks go down.
The main rule of Earth Science that is relevant to finance? The main rule you need to know is that what goes up (political popularity, bank accounts, excess snowpack) must come down.  Gravity: it is central to all Earth Science.  Time spent on games is wasted amid emergency.
Endnotes:
*Henry Flagler, according to Wikipedia, has roots in Germany -- in the United States he became an infamous railroader whose name is printed on many historic buildings and emblems of industrial railroad-driven colonization.
**  Popularity contests will never be profitable (gossip IS meta IS GOSSIP)
