Tesla snaps win streak: Buy or bail?
Views 1.5M Contents 473

Tesla's second-quarter earnings per share forecast rose, Rivian's nonchalance on trade unions, Lucid's 70% sales soar, etc.: The biggest EV story of the week

In the week ending July 12, most electric vehicle stocks rose along with the broader market, catching up with market leader Tesla Inc. (NASDAQ: TSLA)'s gains in the previous week. Shares of the company led by Elon Musk stumbled after an 11-game winning streak.

Here are the key events happening in the e-mobility space this week:

Musk turned a blind eye to the Robotaxi rumor: Tesla's stock performance was strong, completing an 11-term winning streak on Wednesday, but reversed direction on Thursday. The report said the electric car maker would delay the robot launch campaign for two months. The stock fell more than 8% during the trading day before recovering on the next trading day. Skeptics think the problem is far more serious than just a two-month delay, but bulls think the company might perfect the technology.

Musk was very outspoken on X, the social media platform he owns, and he chose to keep quiet about the rumored delays.

This week, Tesla unveiled a new Model Y configuration in the US, a remote rear-wheel drive that costs less than $0.035 million and is eligible for a $7,500 federal tax allowance. Additionally, according to a COX Automotive report, Tesla's Cybertruck is the best-selling electric car, priced at over 0.1 million dollars, and the company sold more than 3,200 vehicles in June alone.
Analysts raised Tesla's earnings per share forecast by about 9% in the past week, according to data provided by Yahoo Finance. This improved assessment may reflect better-than-expected deliveries in the first quarter. The company is scheduled to announce quarterly results on July 23.
