backgrounds Founded in 1963, Baoguang was initially just a watch parts manufacturer that exported stainless steel watch parts abroad. After just 10 years, it was listed on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange in 1972 (stock code: 84). Baoguang's English name “STELUX” comes from “Steel” (steel) and “luxury” (luxury). The reason is that in the early 1960s, the stainless steel parts manufactured by the Group were considered luxurious products. Since then, Baoguang's business has continued to expand and now has a widely recognized leading position in the watch and eyewear retail and wholesale industry. The brands operated by the Group such as “Time Gallery”, “Glasses 88” and “Seiko Watch” are well-known brands, and they have established a solid foundation in the countries and regions where the Group does business. In 1985, Baoguang opened a time gallery in Hong Kong, China, creating a completely innovative watch retail culture. The “Time Gallery” targets middle-income consumers and sells multiple brands and lifestyle watches at clear sizes at real prices within a single watch retail store, fundamentally changing the traditional sales model of over-the-counter watches at department stores. Since then, the Time Gallery has been growing, with nearly 400 stores in Hong Kong, Macau, Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, and mainland China. Time Gallery sells a variety of trend-setting watches, from agency brands to the Group's own brands, including its own famous “Iron Dash” brand. In 2002, Time Gallery also won the “Hong Kong Super Brand” award. In 1988, Baoguang purchased “Eyewear 88,” a highly promising eyewear business in Hong Kong, China, and later expanded this business to Macau, Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, and mainland China, focusing on high-end markets. “Glasses 88” has always led the trend in the industry, taking the lead in providing professional and high-quality eye care and after-sales services. It currently has more than 200 stores, and customers can carefully select and enjoy unrivaled service from countless international brands, including agency brands and their own brands. “Glasses 88” won the “Hong Kong Super Brand” award in 2009. In 2005, Baoguang purchased Tongcheng Group, which has always had exclusive distribution rights for “Seiko” brand watches in Hong Kong, Singapore and Malaysia, to further assist the expansion of the Group's watch retail business. In 2011, the Group opened “eGG”, a retail chain that provides a single brand of frames and lenses, targeting young and fashionable customers. The first “eGG” store opened in Hong Kong, China.
