Continuous trading session: Monday to Friday 9:30 AM -4:00 PM Eastern Time (except stock market holidays)
US stocks are allowed to trade before and after the continuous trading session, and orders placed during these extended hours will be submitted to the stock exchanges for matching. Nasdaq has specified its own pre-market and after-hours trading sessions. Different brokerage firms have different requirements for these sessions. Moomoo Financial Inc. sets its rules as follows.
2.1 US stock pre-market trading session: 4:00 AM to 9:30 AM ET
2.2 US stock after-hours trading session: 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM ET
2.3 US Stock after-hours trading session for half-day trading: 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM ET
US stocks are subject to the T+1 settlement cycle, meaning that settlement occurs one trading days after the day the order is executed.
Assume your account balance is $50,000 after settlement has been completed on day T (today). If you spent $30,000 buying shares on day T-1, and $20,000 on day T, then $30,000 and $20,000 will settle on days T and T+1, respectively. In order to avoid default for the next two trading days, the maximum amount you can withdraw today is 0 (=$50,000-$30,000-$20,000).
