How to Start a Recurring Investment Plan

      1. What is Recurring Investment?

A recurring investment plan buys a fixed amount of a specified stock on a regular schedule. For example, you can set a plan to automatically buy A$50 worth of a stock on the 15th of each month or on Monday every two weeks.

It uses dollar-cost averaging to reduce the impact of market volatility over time. By investing a fixed amount at regular intervals, fewer shares are bought when stock prices are high and more shares when stock prices are low.

      2. Investment Process

You can create an investment plan anytime, and set the investment symbol, amount, and date.

Once your recurring investment plan is set up, the system will place a limit order at around 10:30 AM AEST on your specified date. If that day is a non-trading day, the order will be postponed to around 10:30 AM AEST on the next trading day.

2.1 Start your recurring investment plan

1.Trading permissions: To trade Australian stocks, you must meet the "minimum marketable parcel of shares" requirement. Failure to meet this requirement may result in the investment plan not being executed. For details, see Moomoo AU's enhancement to the minimum marketable parcel requirement.

2.Sufficient funds: Ensure there is sufficient buying power in AUD on the investment day.

3.Select eligible stocks: Only certain stocks are eligible for Recurring Investment.

        • Please visit Recurring Investment > Top Recurring Investments > All.

4.Select an investment amount: The minimum investment amount is A$50.

5.Select an investment frequency: You can invest biweekly on a weekday or monthly (excluding the 31st).

        • If there is a holiday, the execution will be postponed until the next available trading day.

        • For users who have already successfully invested this month, any changes to the investment frequency will take effect one week after the last successful investment.

Example 1: If you initially set your investment for every other Tuesday and then change it to every other Monday after a successful investment, the new schedule will start on the Monday of the week after next.

Example 2: If your investment was set for the 30th of each month and the last successful investment occurred on a Wednesday, changing it to every other Monday will take effect on the Monday of the week after next.

6.Fees: A monthly fee of A$9.90 (tax included) is charged per recurring investment plan. This fee is deducted after the first successful investment of the month, and no additional fees are charged for subsequent investments that month.

        • Standard fees apply for closing stock positions that were opened using a recurring investment plan.

        • If the first investment of the month under Plan A fails, the fee will not be charged, and the investment amount will be refunded to your brokerage account.

        • Monthly Total Est. Calculation: Monthly Investment: Investment Amount x 1 + Fee; Biweekly Investment: Investment Amount x 2 + Fee.

      2.2 Order executions

Before executing a recurring investment order, we will verify your risk status, buying power, stock status, and whether you meet the "minimum marketable parcel of shares" requirement. If any checks fail, the order will not be executed, resulting in a failed investment attempt.

If all checks are passed after the market opens, we'll determine the number of shares you can order based on the current market's second-best offer price. If the number of shares is a fraction, it will be rounded down to the nearest whole number, and a limit order will be placed using this whole number at the second-best offer price to execute the stock purchase.

      • Successful order: The actual cost will be based on the fill price. After the successful execution of the plan, the purchased stocks can be viewed in your holdings.

      • Failed order: Your order may fail for one of the following reasons below.

a.Buying 0 shares while funds are sufficient may be due to an illiquid market. In that case, the system will attempt to place the order twice. If both attempts fail, the investment will not proceed.

b.The investment amount is less than the price of one share.

c.Insufficient buying power: If you have insufficient buying power in AUD on the scheduled investment day, the order execution will fail.

d.Not meeting the "minimum marketable parcel of shares" requirement. If you are under the CHESS Sponsored model, the initial purchase amount for any specific stock must be at least A$500.

e.Other reasons: If the stock is suspended from trading, or if it's no longer supported for Recurring Investment, then the order execution will fail. A recurring investment plan may also fail if the user or the stock is prohibited from trading.

Disclaimer: Securities prices may fluctuate significantly, and there is no guarantee of profit or protection against losses. If the designated investment amount is insufficient to purchase a whole share, fractional shares will be purchased.

      2.3 View recurring investment orders

You can view recurring investment orders by going to:

      • Accounts > Select an account > Orders

Alternatively, to check the details of your plans, you can also go to:

      • Accounts > Select an account > More > Recurring Investment > My Investments

2.4 Edit, suspend, or stop a plan

You can edit your plans anytime, such as the investment amount or frequency, or suspend a plan after creating it. There is no limit to how many times you can edit each plan. Adjustments cannot be made while a plan is being executed.

      • Any adjustments made after 9:00 AM AEST on the day of scheduled investments will take effect on the next scheduled investment day.

      • If you stop a plan, it cannot be recovered, and you would need to create a new plan if you want to resume investing regularly.

      • A plan will be automatically terminated if orders fail 3 times in a row.

      2.5 Recurring investment reminders

You'll receive push notifications and in-app messages to remind you of your recurring investment plans three days and one day before each scheduled investment day at 10:00 AM AEST.

      • You also receive notifications of any successful or failed orders in your plan.

      • If your plan stops due to insufficient buying power after three failed attempts, we'll let you know that it has been terminated.
